Dayton Update: June 3, 2019

Monday, June 3, 2019 The Dayton Branch remains closed. However, Corken has still been able to deliver to Dayton customers when other distributors couldn't or wouldn't. Per one customer, "You guys didn't even have a roof and you took care of us!"

Dayton Update: May 30, 2019

Thursday, May 30, 2019 The Dayton Branch will remain closed today. We have been working diligently to get the branch cleaned up and operational and we have made great progress.  We have a few structural problems that still need to be stabilized to make the building safe for operation.  Hopefully, those will be completed today. Once we get power we should be able to reopen, at least partially. We would like to thank everyone who has stopped by to see how we are doing, those offering help, those who bought us lunch, as well as all the calls and emails we received.  It is much appreciated. And thanks again for your continued patience and understanding. Mary Burck Director of Operations

Dayton Branch Closed due to Tornado Damage

The Corken Steel Dayton Branch has suffered major damage from a tornado on Monday, May 27. We are missing a big part of our roof and have other structural damage. We have no power, no water, and no phones. However, our phones have been forwarded to our Monroe location. Most of our roofing inventory, that was still in tact, has been relocated to our Evendale location. Please call them for your roofing needs. Our fab shop looks to be fine, but inoperable at this time with no power. Please call our Monroe or Florence location for any fab needs. All our trucks are inoperable (but upright). We will do our best to make deliveries out of our other locations. Please call Monroe, Centerville, Evendale, or any of our other locations for your needs. As always, your Territory Managers are able to assist as well. We appreciate everyone's patience as we work through this. Thanks again for your understanding and cooperation. Introducing the Innovative Tempstar® X-Vane™ Fan

What is X-Vane Fan Technology?  Have you seen the new patent-pending Tempstar® X-Vane™ Fan? This unique vane axial indoor fan system has commercial HVAC in a top spin. It's unlike traditional commercial belt-driven fan systems. As pictured above, the X-Vane fan is positioned horizontally within the rooftop cabinet. It utilizes an ECM motor and a vane axial fan for improved rooftop performance and energy efficiency. New technology, reduced maintenance and set-up costs along with quiet operation mean Tempstar is delivering the future of innovation today. Here are a few of the benefits of this innovative X-Vane Fan Technology: Installed in 3-6 Ton Tempstar Packaged Rooftop Units: X-Vane fans are installed in RGV and RGW gas heating/electric cooling units, RAV and RAW electric heat/electric cooling units, and RAV and RAW cooling only units. Please see the model charts below for more information. Advanced Technology: Unlike most rooftop units on the market, Tempstar rooftops with X-Vane Fan Technology utilize an advanced fan design with 75 percent fewer moving parts. Not only does the fan sit horizontally, but there are no pulleys, no belt, no motor base, no blower shaft and no blower bearings. Instead, patent-pending X-Vane Fan Technology utilizes an efficient, direct-drive ECM motor and a vane axial fan. Easier Installation and Less Maintenance: Less moving parts provides easier installation and requires less routine maintenance. Same Rooftop Unit Footprint as Previous Models: The beauty of the X-Vane Fan is that it fits into the same cabinet size as previous models. So, you can maintain the same footprint for customers in the replacement market. Increased Efficiency: New 6 ton RAV/RGV units with X-Vane Fan Technology now achieve 15.2/15.0 IEER respectively, so they already comply with 2023 DOE Energy Standards for IEER. The 3 to 5 ton RAW/RGW units with X-Vane Fan Technology now achieve 16 SEER with two stages of cooling. Tax break allows Commercial HVAC contractors to expense equipment

Section 179: A Commercial HVAC Contractor’s Diamond in the Rough Tax break allows commercial HVACR contractors to expense equipment immediately While the reduction of the corporate tax rate from 35 percent to 21 percent and the simplification of individual tax brackets garnered most of the headlines following the passage of the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, there’s a hidden jewel tucked within the tax reform package that commercial HVACR contractors need to be aware of: the expansion of Section 179. The expansion of Section 179 grants commercial businesses the ability to immediately deduct up to $2.5 million in qualifying nonresidential HVACR equipment purchases with a $1 million cap, effective Jan. 1. Geothermal Tax Credit Reinstated

"The U.S. geothermal heat pump (GHP) industry scored a victory for its workforce and their employers as federal legislation was passed to extend federal tax credits for residential and commercial installations of GHPs. The measure was included in the Continuing Resolution spending bill approved by Congress. The reinstated GHP tax credits are retroactive to Jan. 1, 2017, and extended to Jan. 1, 2022. The language also changes an important consideration for commercial GHP projects, making them eligible if commenced by Jan. 1, 2022 rather than placed in service." Source: ACHR News
